Installing A Rachiele Undermount Sink

Instead of using countertop clips for support like traditional sinks, our sinks anchor directly to the cabinet sides, providing a sturdy base.  This new installation approach allows for the inclusion of larger sinks into your cabinetry, expanding your design possibilities. Many of our sinks, do not require front and rear supports up to 60". Support only the right and left flanges.  Please inquire.

Countertops should be templated, using the installed sink as the template, after the sink is installed.

Important Measurements: 18" Wide Undermount Sinks

Join our kitchen design expert, Dino Rachiele, as he dives into the often-overlooked but crucial aspects of measuring for a new kitchen sink. This video is especially important if you are considering an 18" wide undermount sink. This is your go-to guide for ensuring your sink fits perfectly.

Countertop Templating

Templating will occur after the sink is installed. Join Dino as he explains the importance of cutting the countertop flush with the bowl to ensure the proper fit of accessories and to avoid standing water at the grout line.

Custom Sink Installation Made Easy

"Dino,

I don’t think I could possibly be happier with the sink you made for me. It is now the focal point of our kitchen. Thank you for the awesome,  prompt service. You are right when you say you are purveyor of time, it is such a pleasure and the process is so much easier in this sink. I now enjoy doing the dishes! The instructions were clear and made the installation easy. I managed it all by myself since my contractor got Covid and wasn’t able to return.

Thanks again, I’ll recommend you to everyone."

IMPORTANT - UNDERMOUNTED CUSTOM SINKS

Please make sure your countertop fabricators cut the countertops flush with the bowl.

No overhang, no reveal. This is critically important to ensure your accessories will fit properly in your sink.

Rachiele Custom Sink Use and Care

Copper sink care

Copper sink care

Effortless Care for Our Copper Sinks

Our copper sinks feature a unique, self-healing patina that evolves over time, revealing a stunning range of hues and patterns. They are incredibly low-maintenance—simply rinse after use, with no need to dry. Grease and dirt can be easily cleaned with regular dish soap.

Many new owners are delighted to discover how easy it is to care for our sinks, as the interior is highly durable and forgiving. While leaving metal pans in the sink may cause temporary dark marks due to metal reactions, these will naturally fade within a few days. If you’d like to speed up the process, gently use a Scotch-Brite pad on the affected area.

Scratches blend seamlessly into the patina and quickly become unnoticeable. To help preserve your sink's patina, we include a small bottle of copper conditioner with your order. This conditioner functions as a polish, creating a temporary protective coating. Use it only when you're satisfied with the patina, as it can slow down the natural regeneration process. Read care advice from a past customer here.

Apron front care

Brass and Bronze care

Copper sink care

The aprons of our copper, brass, and bronze sinks have an extremely durable clearcoat. That being said, there is no clearcoat that will not scratch. Please make sure that your plumber and other workers do not wear tool belts during the installation process.  Ensure that they do not use any type of tape on the face of the apron.

Once the sink has been installed, simply wash the apron with mild soap and water as needed.

The protective clear topcoat is on the vertical surface only.

Please treat the apron with the care it deserves, much like fine furniture. Avoid using it to hang wet towels or metal towel bars, as this can lead to damage over time. Consistent leaning or pressure on the apron may eventually wear through the protective topcoat. Imagine rubbing a cloth on the same spot of your car's paint for an hour each day—eventually, friction would wear it down. Ensuring your faucet has the proper reach can help prevent this issue and maintain the apron’s pristine condition.

Care Tips for Your Unlacquered Brass or Bronze Sink

If you have an unlacquered brass or bronze sink without burnishing, you have two options: Bright or Burnished.

If you prefer to keep the sink looking bright, as it did when you first received it, we recommend investing in a quality metal polish. However, this requires consistent maintenance, as you may need to polish the sink daily to maintain its shine.

For a more effortless and timeless look, we strongly suggest opting for burnishing (natural weathering) before your sink is shipped. This process helps your sink develop a patina similar to that of the copper sinks described on this page.

Over time, aged or weathered brass will naturally take on a charming greenish tint, while bronze will develop a rich, golden hue. To clarify, the terms "aged," "weathered," and "burnished" all refer to the same process and result in the distinctive, character-filled appearance that makes your sink truly unique.

You'll be pleasantly surprised by our sinks—they do away with the need for the bulky grids and bacteria havens that many other sink companies require. This feature is made possible by our signature hand-finishing and the fact that the 316L stainless steel we use is significantly more scratch-resistant than the typical 304 stainless steel used in most sinks.

Our finishing technique yields a distinctive, less glossy, random pattern that not only enhances the sink's visual appeal but also significantly reduces the visibility of scratches and scuff marks. If your sink sustains a bothersome scratch or scuff, fret not. Your order includes a Scotch-Brite pad, allowing you to effortlessly remove the mark and seamlessly blend it in with the original pattern.

To deep clean, we recommend the liquid version of Bar Keepers Friend.

Millennia use and care

Millennia use and care

Easy care here, for sure!
Simply wash your sink with soap and water.

Millennia stainless is made from domestic 304L, a higher grade of stainless steel than typical 304. The "L" stands for low carbon, which enhances corrosion resistance. What does this mean for you? It ensures that your sink will last for generations.

The embossed pattern in the stainless steel not only helps to hide scratches and water spots but also gives the sink a shinier finish compared to our hand-finished stainless. It is NSA-certified for food preparation, as it is exceptionally easy to clean.

While the manufacturer offers this pattern in 316L stainless steel, we discovered flaws in their 316L version and reported them to the manufacturer. They explained that the flaws are due to the roller used in the production process and cannot be eliminated in that specific grade. As a result, we chose a more reliable grade to ensure the highest quality for our sinks.

For everyday cleaning, we recommend using Dawn or a similar dish soap. For deep cleaning, the liquid form of Bar Keepers Friend works wonders.
